Canon announces its new EOS 50D Digital SLR camera with 15.1-megapixel CMOS APS-C size image sensor and new DIGIC 4 image processor. It comes loaded with an expanded ISO range, improved noise reduction, 14-bit analog-to-digital conversion and in-camera photo editing features.
Features:
The EOS 50D includes a fluorine coating on the low-pass filter which ensures better dust resistance and the Self-Cleaning sensor unit uses ultrasonic vibrations to further keep the dust particles away.
The EOS 50D Digital SLR camera offers faster processing speed with 6.3 frame-per-second (fps) continuous shooting capability (for bursts of up to 90 Large/Fine JPEGs or 16 RAW images on a UDMA CF card). You can choose among four modes Standard, Weak, Strong and None. Its DIGIC 4 processor helps in automatic adjustment while shooting with JPEG images or corrected in post-photo shoot processing with RAW images with the Digital Photo Professional (DPP) software.
The camera packs in a 3-inch clear view LCD screen, HDMI output, viewfinder, Autofocus (AF) system and supports UDMA cards for faster writing of image files. The Auto Lighting Optimizer automatically adjusts dark images if the subject is in backlit surrounding or in shade.
It also features AF Microadjustment, Live View function with two detailed grid displays, Quick Mode AF, Live Mode AF and Face Detection Live Mode AF. Unlike other Canon DSLRs, the EOS 50D allows the use of RAW and sRAW settings.
The Canon EOS 50D camera is compatible with Canon EF and EF-S lenses. It is scheduled for October launch and is expected to be priced at $1,399 (approx Rs. 61,310). It is being offered in a kit version with Canon’s EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM zoom lens at $1,599 (approx Rs. 70,000).
